How to Spend Quality Time with Your Kids

As a mother of three, I’m usually running in and out of the house doing ten things at one time, so I was glad that I had some time over the weekend to spend it with my children. One way that I came up with to do this was to let my little girl help me in cooking. The night before, I had asked Melinda, my spunky 5 year old, if she would like to wake up early and help me prepare breakfast. She promptly said, yes. Of course, even though I had to coax her out of her princess twin quilt with pillow sham, she managed to help me out.  Pretty soon, she was cracking the eggs and getting all the pancake flour all over herself, not to mention licking the bowl. However, she was beaming like sunrise when she presented her brothers and father her signature pancakes. I had such a great time with her.

Cooking with my kids allows me to spend time with them. I’m planning to have the same session with the boys as well. This whole idea was triggered by a blog I read where the author cooked marshmallows with her kids. They looked so adorable and cute, and decided that it might be a great idea to try it out for myself. Sure enough, it was and because of that, I’m been doing it as a bimonthly thing, so that I can have ample bonding time with my kids.
