Who Says Adults Can’t Play Video Games?
Now, I know that sometimes it may seem childish, but I love to play games with my son’s Wii. Although I must admit that I am far from being graceful or agile when it comes to playing the game. (I usually play sports Wii, thinking that I could substitute it for the real thing and lose real pounds.) My kids love to look at me and laugh, and in turn, they get to teach me what to do instead of me teaching them. It’s a great way for me and my husband, since we recently coaxed him to try, to spend time with our children. Another thing I love about it is that I get to keep an eye on what they are playing. Now, I normally don’t worry when I see Melinda playing with her princess vanity table and chair set inside her room. However, I worry when they play video games since sometimes it can be very violent. Deciding to learn the things they love to do also help my kids feel closer to me.
I’ve noticed that Michael, my eldest, can easily converse with me about things happening at school and everything else. Even though I cannot win one game to save my life, at least I’m trying and it makes them feel that I truly value them since I bother to learn what they like to do. It’s also not unusual though to be a mom and slightly addicted to video games. I read a post about this mother who could not stop playing Grinchmas. After I read it, I was glad to know that I wasn’t the only one.
