Holiday Parenting Your Vacation-Mode Kids
I have been trying to get my son to help with the housework now that school is out for the holidays and it’s pretty difficult. His safari jungle full quilted bed is looking a lot like the wilderness and so and I struggle through the morning arguing about why he should keep his room clean and why he is supposed to be resting since it’s “vacation time”.
Are you having the same problems with your school kids?
The holidays usually are a chore for some parents. When the kids are at school, it’s easier to manage because from 5 to eight hours of the day, they are technically the school’s problem, right? But with the children at home for the Christmas break, parents would have to make sure that everything is spick and span in the household, even when the kids are messing around. And that’s not easy.
Kids this time of the year, want nothing more than to stay up late and mess up their personal space. Sometimes it’s easier to give in and allow it. It’s really their “break” after all. However, as a parent, you just cannot sit there and let this opportunity to teach your kids pass.
