A Parent Can Only do so Much
It’s difficult to think about what all the parents are going through in Haiti right now. I know that I wouldn’t have lasted very long knowing and seeing my children suffer in front of me. When Melinda fell off her kiddie-ups princess rocking horse one time and suffered a fractured finger, I couldn’t stand the thought and sight of her in such horrible pain. It broke my heart knowing that I couldn’t take the pain away. Seeing the news and the events that are transpiring in Haiti, I cannot begin to imagine what it must be like for a parent.
We are expected to face tough situations as parents, but sometimes, no matter how careful we are; we can only do so much. We always like to think that we have everything under control and most of the time, we do. However, when things that are way bigger than us happen, we often realize the hard way that we’re just as vulnerable as our children.
As of the moment, I’m urging the kids to help out in providing donations to the little children that were struck with the earthquake disaster in Haiti. Kyle even gave up his favorite Megatron toy so that another kid can enjoy it there. Our neighborhood and local church are also working to get donations and funds to help all the people affected in Haiti. I know that life may not be so easy and so is parenting, but we have to do what we can, even if we can only do so much.
