A Few Tips On Raising Bookworms.

We’re getting our princes this Time To Read Revolving Bookcase for the bedroom. She is currently developing this good habit of reading before bedtime and she has been quite keen on getting many books for herself whenever we are at the mall. We are trying our best to encourage that. Kids could very easily lose interest with books. But I am hoping this wouldn’t happen with our girl. I’m hoping to raise a bookworm, which is quite challenging to do since, there are so many distractions for children today.

Raising a bookworm has got to first start with letting your kids discover how fun reading is, so you shouldn’t make reading a chore, or a task. But rather, make this leisure time she can draw so much pleasure from. Never force reading on her. You must allow the kid to choose the books she wants to read, and not do the choosing for her. You must instill some discipline, however….as she shouldn’t be allowed to read and read, even at the wee hours of the morning.

With my own daughter’s case, I also have given her a dictionary so she can also learn to start falling in love with words. I’ve taught her to look up any word she could not understand from her reading, so that she also learns to develop her vocabulary, aside from her reading comprehension.

How about you? What sort of things do you do to encourage our kid’s reading habits?
