Should Men Babysit at All?
Most women think that men should never babysit. In fact, even if women might want to be able to relax and be free from the hassles of taking care of a child even for just a couple of hours, there is no denying the fact that women get a cold sweat when they think about leaving their husbands alone with their children. My husband once offered to babysit our kids since my old friend from overseas was in town and she invited me for dinner. He told me that I should go and catch up with her. At first, I didn’t want to go, but then I gave in. All throughout dinner I couldn’t help but think about what was going on at home, whether the children had proper food, did they brush their teeth etc. When I finally got home 5 hours later, I found Melinda and Michael asleep in their rooms. My 7 year old, however, was asleep in his pirates! printed rug.
The kitchen looked like a tornado swept through it and there were half eaten pizza in the counter tops. My husband came out to greet me and told me that maybe he should think twice about offering to babysit again. We both laughed. Even though men and fathers might have great privileges and I’m sure they can also be responsible baby sitters. However, I guess it would be best if the “mother hen,” aka. me, would be there to supervise the situation.
