Teaching Your Kids How to Share

Sharing is very necessary in this world, unfortunately, for a child, this concept might be a little too difficult to grasp right away. Last week, I made it a point to try and acquaint my children with how to share. I don’t have a problem with my ten year old, Michael, but Melinda and Kyle, still don’t understand it yet. They were arguing once about a pirates! personalized meal time plate set that Kyle had. My little girl wanted to borrow it, but my little boy wouldn’t let her. They were fighting for some time that my husband had to step in.

My husband talked to both of them and tried, as best he could, to explain why it’s important to share. Hence, my husband and I agreed to spend the entire week reinforcing that little talk. Luckily, we found some good tips online about how to do this and we’re currently practicing it even now. So far, we have seen really good improvements and even though there are lapses that happen on occasion, it’s not like before. Now, I think they are both working to understand this concept of sharing. I know that they could greatly benefit from it as they grow older. I want my children to not be selfish or to think only of themselves, since that’s the start of any person’s downfall.
