When Mothers Get Depressed
As a mother, we cannot deny that we are under a lot of stress. As our children age, their demand somewhat grows and often times, it’s hard to keep up with everything. Sometimes, the very fact idea of balancing several different things at the same time can be quite stressful already. For instance, I had a friend that was driven over the edge of her depression simply because she needed to redecorate her child’s room and had to pick her kid’s fly away twin quilt with pillow sham. Although it wasn’t the only cause, it helped to trigger her depression and now she has to see a psychiatrist just to get her life back on track.
A lot of times, people (and sometimes mothers themselves) think that they are superwoman and that they can handle everything that’s going on. Most women think that they can cook breakfast, lung, & dinner, clean the house, work on a full time 9 hour job and still manage to take care of their child’s every whim. This is quite a feat and can be very exhausting and draining. Depression can easily take over mothers anytime. Even though mothers generally experience post partum depression, other mothers suffer from depression even way after they have given birth to their child.
