How Important is it to Protect Your Child’s Ears?

Most parents know that they need to protect their child’s hearing from damaging loud noises, but most have no idea what to do and how to do it. For instance, my toddler loves to drag his under construction toddler bedset and then create a makeshift bed in front of the television set. The TV is usually cranked high up while he sits like two meters away from the speaker. Although I constantly check on the volume, the kids always find a way to crank it up higher when I’m not around. Sometimes, I feel that I need to do something.

I know that listening to loud noises can lead to hearing loss in children. Once they get exposed to these deafening noises consistently, they could spend half of their lives deaf. I certainly wouldn’t want my child to experience that and I don’t think any parent would ever wish that for their child. Although it’s still not that easy to control it, since the children are exposed to other loud sounds on the outside, we try to minimize the amount of loud noises at home. Whether it’s coming from the TV, the computer or the radio, we make sure to listen to it in moderation. It’s just one small step that can actually help save your child from potential hearing loss.
