Keeping An Eye Out for Your Child
My little girl is excited that her friend, Mika, will be coming over for the weekend on a sleepover. They just moved into town a couple of months ago and the two hit it off right away. Melinda, already asked me if I have her mermaids twin hugger ready so she can put it on her bed and they can sleep there. It’s going to be a first for my little ballerina to have a friend over. Hence, I know she’s pretty excited and she can’t stop talking about it. The truth is that, not only are sleepovers great for my child, it’s also a great way for me to get to know who my kid hangs out with at school.
I know, I know, it does sound a lot like spying and maybe it is, but I guess I just want to make sure that my kid is hanging out with the right person while away from school. I also make it a point for the boys to have their own sleepover night. Sometimes, I even invite the parents over for dinner so that I can get to know them more. It’s hard to keep an eye out for your child when they’re out in the open world, so the least you could do is make sure that they are hanging out with the right crowd. Personally, it helps to put me at ease knowing that my children are hanging out with the right kind of people.
