Monitor your child’s social networking membership

My brother’s kids are fast becoming addicted to the internet that it becomes harder and harder for them to get the right amount of sleep. My sister-in-law had, one day, tried to “lure” them into their bedroom by redecorating it with elements they the boys loved. She turned their bedroom into a sports-themed kiddie dugout complete with two sets of cool skate twin quilt with pillow sham. She was hoping that they would stay there more than use the computer at their dad’s office.

She found out later on that the kids were actually so addicted to social networking sites. And they are just eight and nine years old! Social networking sites have now become a huge parenting concern today because these sites are packed with all the feature one needs to stay online all the time.

In my nephew’s case, they use it to chat with friends and play all those endless game applications. My brother and his wife were not so aware that this is what these kids get from these sites as they are not too keen on the program. So, I had to give them a walkthrough of it and warned that if they aren’t too careful, the kids might end up getting scammed from it too. The kids must be monitored when doing this activity from now on.
