Planned Parenting
Friends of ours who have been married sometime July last year are bent on having their first baby be born in the year 2012, the year of the dragon. They are strong believers in the Eastern culture, being raised in a Chinese environment. So that’s like almost two years away. And right now, they are truly just enjoying each other as a couple, which I think is really cool.
But after seeing my kids’ Rock a Buddies Rocker chair, the wife seems to have her desire to bear a child kick in.
From experience, one thing I have noticed is that those who plan on when they become parents or how they would want to be parents when they are ready, are usually the most responsible and most caring parents. They have the foresight to be prepared for everything, including the baby’s arrival and they do tend to be more involved and attentive much later, when the baby grows and becomes active. This observation is apparently supported by research and studies. Those who practice plan parenting are actually more effective.
I really admire parents who think this way and so I tell my friend, to not be in a hurry and stick to their plan of having a baby in 2012.
