Does Your Kids Facebook?
I found out that my kids are now on Facebook. Thanks to their elder brother, my tweener, my younger ones all hold Facebook accounts. I found them all together one time huddled in the children’s Firefighter Table & 2 Stool Set with our eldest playing on his laptop and my two younger kids sharing computer time in their father’s laptop. The sight is something that warms my heart, all of my three kids technically bonding together. My eldest said he helped the younger ones open an account, so they could play the online games together. I’m all fine by that really, except I had wished they had discussed this with me first.
I know kids are so into technology at a very early age and that it would be pointless to stop them from doing so, given that the medium is now so ever present everywhere. But I am a bit worried they will open themselves up to a lot of threats on the internet.
So, I am going to monitor their internet time from now on and I have added each of them to my own Facebook account as well. I have also carefully configured the laptops they use to filter down sites not meant for school age kids to see.
How do you handled your kids accessing the internet? This is such a new parenting challenge to us, no?
