Birthdays With Older Kids
My nieces upcoming 3rd birthday party is Alice In Wonderland inspired. Her parents are going all out to celebrate this milestone and I’ve offered to contribute and provide the Tea Party Personalized Meal Time Plate Set for her and her guests of about 15 kids.
Birthday celebrations are usually a big deal with children ages 10 and below. But when a child grows up, it seems as though birthday parties are no longer that important. Did you ever notice that?
I know this from experience. When my eldest son was younger, he used to be so excited about celebrating his birthday, no matter what plans we have for the party. As long as there’s ice cream, balloons, cake and his favorite sweet spaghetti dish, then it’s already a party for him. When he reached the age of eleven, he suddenly no longer wants all the hoopla and would much rather prefer spending his birthday with two or three of his best friends.
It’s also quite harder for relatives and friends to find him a birthday present at this age. He’s quite young for clothes or any fashionable item and toys no longer seemed appropriate or that practical to give. So, ever since, he’s been getting money as gifts instead.
Do you find this same observation with your own growing kids?
