Teaching The Importance of Sharing
If there’s one thing crucial that a child has to learn from a parent, it is to share. Although my kids are all good when it comes to sharing. (We always make sure to instill the idea in them whenever we get a chance.) It’s often tough when they start to question its effectiveness especially when they see other children not practicing the same thing and still get what they want. One time, my little boy’s school mate brought a train stomp stool with him to school to play with. All the other kids wanted to try it out, but he never let anybody else touch it.
When my little boy came home, he asked me why he should share again since his classmate never did the same thing. Other kids only wanted to play with his toy for a bit or even just see it up close but he wouldn’t even let other kids go near it. I had to explain to my kid again that sharing is essential and even if some kids or people might not like to share some things, it doesn’t mean that they are completely bad. They might have their own reasons for it. However, I made sure that he understood how important it is to actually share what he has to others who don’t have the same stuff. In the end, I hope my kid makes the right decision.
Sometimes parents forget that a child only copies what he sees in adults, hence, my husband and I always make sure that we set good examples for our children. Moreover, I always make sure that I provide proper time for my husband as a good wife as well as great mother to my kids.
