Discussing Adoption In Detail
As my friend was cleaning up her son’s dinosaurland personalized meal time plate set, she was telling me about how her sister has been talking about going for adoption. There are a lot of problems facing the international adoption committees, particularly the ones with Russia. Relationships were strained after an American mother decided to return her 7 year old adopted child back to Russia by letting him fly on a plane by himself. This is quite unimaginable for some people to do, especially for fellow parents. Because of what happened the Russian community has placed a freeze on international adoption especially in the US.
Although the parent must have her own reasons for what she did, it is still heartless to think that you would simply place a 7 year old child on the plane by himself. It must be traumatic for the child to go through something like that and I can imagine the resentment that he might feel once he grows older. My friend is worried that her sister might make the wrong decision by adopting, although she is also supportive of everything that will make her sister happy. Hopefully they’ll settle all the other alternatives like maybe figure out any infertility options first before considering adoption.
