Are Your Kids Growing Up on FastFood?

I admit, I love fastfood. They’re quickly prepared, conveniently available, and well, somehow tasteful. I know though that when it comes to nutrition, they provide the least value. So as much as possible, we try to have fastfood only once or twice a month. The problem is that sometimes, this is the only kind of find my son eats with so much gusto. Not even tricking him with a fancy Trains, Planes and Trucks Personalized Meal Time Plate Set can make him eat other food. He wants his burgers and fries all the time.

How do you explain to your kids that fastfood can be bad for their health, when we see other kids with their parents in these stores all the time? Did you know that a Whopper from Burger King has about 670 calories on it? How about Wendy’s Baconator Triple, which has 1330 calories? These chains have really appetizing menus kids want and sometimes as parents, we can’t help but give in to their cravings (which also happens to be our own craving. I like my occasional McDonald’s fries to be honest!)

One good thing though is that some fastfood chains have at least started displaying the nutritional content of foods they serve. This should at least help guide parents into choosing the lesser evil, even if they want to indulge their kids once in a while.
