Traveling With Children
I usually dread traveling with children because of the amount of preparation I have to do days before the trip. I haven’t left and I am already exhausted. On top of the usual things to prepare, my daughter especially requests I also pack her favorite blanket and her Flowers For Hanna Shaped Pillow. There was once a trip that, in all my busy state and the stress of preparing things, I forgot these and my daughter was very inconsolable the whole time. This time, I’m making sure I’ve got all things in order.
I have first made a checklist of things we need and as soon as I’ve prepared all that, I cross it off the list. It helps to feel and see that I’ve achieved something. Also on the same list, my kids and husband each have roles and chores to play. This time around, I am enlisting everyone’s help since the kids are big enough to handle some responsibilities. As soon as they are done with their chores in preparation for this travel, they also have to cross this of their list and I go ahead and inspect this. It’s the same thing for when traveling and preparing to get back home.
It’s nice to have an order and a system when you leave town with your children because it helps with the transition and the travel plans to go smoothly.
