What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?
Lying down with children in one of my kid’s Colorful Sea Twin Quilt with Pillow Sham the other night, we were talking about what they would like to be when they grow up. My daughter said she wanted to be Barbie Doll and get all dressed up, which is typically a girl’s dream, while my son said he wanted to be Poseidon, the god of the Sea. It was so amusing listening to them. Kids have no clear grasp of the reality yet and that’s what fun and innocent about them. Engaging them in these conversations help them boost their confidence, me thinks. It is also refreshing to talk to kids about these things and see how innocent they are.
When I was little, I remember I wanted to be a cashier when I grew up and I remember adults would be laughing at my remarks. Because unlike other children my age who wanted to be lawyers or doctors, I choose to become a blue-collar worker. Of course, I didn’t know anything much about earnings then but at the time, I was very fascinated with cashiers counting the bills, or the items you buy at the grocery and thought that it was a fun job to do.
How about you, what did you want to be when you grew up?
