Bedtime Rituals
Do you have bedtime rituals with your kids? Do you strictly enforce these rituals or follow the process to the letter?
Many parents sometimes struggle with night time debates with their children because some kids choose to be most active minutes before they are supposed to be sleeping in bed. In most cases, there are some power struggles and you can’t help but wonder if the child is intentionally trying to push your buttons or just test how far you would bend for them. That’s why parent psychologists recommend enforcing a bedtime ritual to condition kids’ behavior when it comes to this.
For instance, having a routine in bed helps to “train the kids. In our home, it usually begins with fixing and prepping my son’s Fly Away Twin Quilt with Pillow Sham, setting it up for bedtime. This is then followed by a bath, after which, they’re no longer allowed to play roughly anymore. After bathing, we all settle down and read books are share stories for the day. This is then followed by prayer and then it’s lights out after wards. My kids have become so used to this that they are promptly in bed at 9pm…with 10pm as the extension.
What about you, what’s the bedtime ritual like in your homes?
