Dealing with Pre-Teens
The other day, my son, Michael, asked me to take out that sports collage valance hanging on his window. He asked me to replace it something that he’ll pick out once we go shopping. Of course, he got a valance that had orange skulls printed on them. Now, I know that this is sort of normal for my child to want things a little different since he’s growing up, but the truth is that I’m not sure what to do in case he does become a full blown teen. Parents like to think that their children are incapable of committing any wrong (I’m no exception) but then hearing all the horror stories about teens and what they do, does cause me to become unsure.
I know that we’ve raised our son well, but then again, I have no control over the influences he gets from school and the friends. All we can hope for is that we raised him right, enough so that he can make a wise decision when it calls for it. Dealing with pre-teens can also mean a nightmare, but I’m hoping that it will work out fine. My son is definitely looking forward to growing up and who am I to stop him. I just hope that he doesn’t do anything that he’ll regret once he is fully an adult.
