Waiting for Dad to Come Home

My friend was in a dilemma the other day because she found out that her husband’s flight on the way home would be moved for another month. Apparently, there are still some things that he was asked to take care of before he leaves. He’s currently serving in Iraq and although he is not deployed in the field, it’s still tough for my friend. It’s especially difficult for her son as well who has been bugging her the entire day about her dad while playing with his doggy and doggy pillow. Its hard for her to explain everything to her son especially since he’s been marking off the calendar until his daddy arrives.

My friend also wants to see her husband but then she’s waited so long so what’s another month? Families who have loved ones serving in the war have to deal with a life without them. Explaining it to the children is even tougher, the younger they are, the more difficult it is to make them understand sometimes that daddy has to serve in the war. However, plenty of parents are learning to cope. All they can do is hope and pray that their loved ones will one day walk in their front door all safe and sound. Moreover, hopefully they’ll be staying for good.
