The Art of Letter Writing
The other day, my son came home and asked me if it was possible for me to mail a letter to his grandma and grandpa. I told him that he could easily send an email to his grandparents since they’re savvy enough to know how to access their emails anyway. However, he looked at me and told me flat out that he wanted to “write” to them. I guess, I have become too reliant on technology as well that I’ve forgotten how happy it used to make me feel every time I received a letter. Children nowadays rarely ask or even think about writing an actual letter to anybody. If they are not playing with their latest toy like the train stomp tool for my little son or the PSP for my teen, they are still sitting in front of the computer, playing or watching something.
Nevertheless, I am glad that my son has decided to write an actual letter. I’ll be mailing it tomorrow and he’s telling his younger brother and sibling to do the same so that they can at least experience writing and receiving an actual letter themselves. It might seem so old fashioned but it is a great way to get in touch nonetheless.
