Would You Subject Your Child to Genetic Testing?
Although it might have caused a huge uproar back in the day, today, genetic testing is quite common. Moreover, there are plenty of parents who are thinking about going for it. Conducting a genetic test will not help you find out if your future child will love the lady bug yard queen sheet set that you intend to get for her, but it can help parents determine the possible diseases/problems a child might have. This is especially true if the parents know that they might have genetic disease that could be passed on to their children.
Of course, problem comes when your child starts asking what the tests are for. And it’s sort of unfair to subject your child to rigorous tests for something that might not even be there. There are advantages to genetic testing though since if there is a disease or problem with your child’s health, you can easily counteract the problem or at least control it before it becomes worse. In the end, it will be the parent’s call to go ahead and subject their children to genetic testing. Here’s to hoping that these parents, including me if ever the need arises, will make a good decision by then.
