Dragging Your Family for the Big Move
For a lot of parents, they have to make the big decision of moving their family to a new town or new neighborhood, sometimes even an entirely new state or country, when it comes to making job decisions. Although it can be especially difficult particularly for the children, parents often don’t have much of a choice. Moving out is not as simple as simply packing your bag and moving into a new home. In fact, for children, it’s more than just taking their personalized beach volleyball kid’s room sign, tacking it into a different door in a different state, and then calling that same place, home.
Research has shown that children who often move out or transfer from one home to another have a tendency for suffering from behavioral problems. Moreover, they also have lesser chances of forming quality social relationships since they are frequently on the move and cannot spend enough time to actually get to know someone. They also suffer from a lower well-being and life satisfaction. Although there are times when parents simply don’t have much choice but to keep moving out, as much as possible, it would be better to simply stay in one particular place. This way children can grown up with a place that they fully identify as home.
