When Parents Embarrass Their Children
Sure, it might be okay to know that your 12 year old still has his pirate treasure twin quilt with pillow sham but announcing it to his friends might just be a little embarrassing, for your child. Kid’s are no longer the same as before so it’s not really unusual that they would be embarrassed about certain things that you think might be okay, when for them it isn’t. Sometimes, most of the things that parents do embarrass their children. For parents, this might be a normal thing but oftentimes, there is real pressure for parents to try NOT to embarrass their children. There is nothing more mortifying than having and dealing with a teen since this means that they will pretty much have their own view of how things should and should not be.
On the one hand, parents who simply don’t care will always be admired for being true to themselves. Of course, their children may or may not agree with this. I guess, the best thing to do would be for parents to know that their main goal is to help raise their children to become responsible adults. I think children/teens will never understand their parents and the whole inner workings of parenting until they become one themselves, so for the parents, just sit tight and keep your head above water. Of course, try not to embarrass your children all the time, learn to balance it out by keeping true to yourself.
