Becoming the Bigger Man

Having a daughter die is perhaps one of the harshest things that could happen to any parent. Moreover, it takes a lot for a parent to say that all he or she wants is a sincere apology to those who have harmed their daughter. Take the case of Jeremy Price. He is Phoebe Price’s father; Phoebe committed suicide as a result of bullying from her peers. I read on a blog while I was folding my son’s fireman twin sheet set, that he is seeking for an apology instead of punishment for those who have contributed to her daughter’s end action.

I can only imagination how tough it must be for Phoebe’s parents to be going through something like this. But I can also tell that it’s tough for the parents of those accused as well. Choosing leniency over a straight punishment for the girls that bullied Phoebe is a big step and one that is not easy to take. However, Jeremy Price has mentioned that he would wait for the court’s decision on the matter but that he would prefer the court to be more lenient to the accused. Moreover, he said as long as they apologize and say “sorry” for what they did, he is willing to make an appeal to the court to be more lenient with the sentence. This is not easy to do especially for a grieving parent.
