Would You Bail Out Your Child?

Parents are often programmed to take care of their children. Regardless of whether they are 2 months old or 24 years old, oftentimes, parents cannot help but feel as if they are responsible for their children’s safety and well-being. Hence, they do almost everything they can to help their children get the best education, live comfortably and have a roof over their heads. However, what happens when a child is simply too much for the parent. Sure, him acting up at 3 years old by throwing and messing up his pirates! toddler bedset might be somewhat normal but what if he advances to more violent and self-destructive things as he grows older?

My mom’s friend, Aunt Lynn, had to make the hard decision of not bailing her son out of jail. She has been trying to help him get back on his feet ever since he got hooked on drugs. She’s paid for every possible rehab program that he could enroll in to help him out but still, he always manages to get himself into trouble, one way or another. I think she finally had her fill and decided that she was not going to bail him out this time. Even though she cried her heart out to my mom about it, she says that it might help him realize that she cannot always help him out during tough situations. She has herself to think about as well. I guess, you can only help out someone for so long even if they are your blood relative.
