Setting the Internet Rules

Regulating your child’s computer use is very important. It is necessary to always look out for what sites your child visits online. Of course, there are parental controls that are mostly in use in homes that have children, but what about your child’s actual use of the computer? One time, right before bedtime, my seven year old son was telling me that my other son, Michael, has been sneaking out of his fly away full sheet set every night to play computer games online. Now, although I’ve pretty much expected that he would since he always tells me that he wants to use the computer every night before bedtime. I try and make him understand that there is a time for everything. And if he wants to use the computer for playing games, then he should use it at the normal time that I give them, which includes their time to use it for school work.

I know that most kids today can’t seen to live without the internet, but as much as possible, I want to regulate their use of the internet and the computer. I don’t want them to rely on the internet so much that their lives end up revolving in it. I also want them to be a little healthier and still enjoy physical activities or games with friends rather than spending it online. There are also countless games dangers online that they can encounter through social networking sites or even just surfing through various websites. Anyway, I’m still pending a talk with my son. Hopefully, over the weekend, my husband and I can talk about this and also discuss it with our children.
