For a lot of parents, having a babysitter is often important especially if they value the essence of date night with their spouses. Of course, sometimes, it’s not easy to find a babysitter that you can trust. Someone that you think is responsible enough to help tuck your child into his cowboy full sheet set if you happen to be running a little late from a night out. However, what’s your criteria for a babysitter? Would you hire someone who is eager to watch over a child even if she’s only 12 years old and in 6th grade?

I read an article about a parent that’s wondering whether she should hire someone this young to watch over her children. There are some people who feel that as long as the child is responsible and serious about doing her job than it would be fine. On the other hand, many also feel that 12 is simply way too young to be handed the responsibility of taking care of younger children, especially since they are quite young themselves. Personally, I would probably look for another babysitter. I mean, I would appreciate the interest but 12 years old is still a child to me. I think they also need to be taken cared for rather than then taking care of younger children. That’s just me, of course.
