Answering The Toughest Questions

I know many parents will agree with me when I say that kids often ask the most though provoking questions. Oftentimes, they don’t even realize that the question in itself, is too encompassing and difficult to answer even for full adults. The other day, my daughter and I were cleaning up her room and arranging her fairy princess garden pillow. She looked at the drawing long and hard and she just asked me why she was alive. My daughter has always been the most unpredictable out of my bunch and she’s the one that always asks questions that throw me off guard. To be honest, I always end up blanking out whenever I’m asked questions like these especially when you have a little girl waiting patiently for an answer. Hoping that you can also make her understand what’s going on even if you don’t understand it quite well yourself.

However, most of the time, I manage. For me, the best way that I explain things to my daughter and sons, especially if it’s things that I don’t understand well myself, is to be completely honest. I often tell them what I think they would need to know and find out as they grow elder. Each of them will have a different idea of life, love, death etc. I can only guide them and show them the way. If there are things I can’t answer, then I still try and explain but make sure to leave room for them to figure it out themselves.
