When Children Start Cursing
It’s undeniable. No matter how strict and stern you are in controlling your children’s language, they will find a way to learn it from other people. Cursing has been deemed a no-no in our home. We’ve talked to our children about it and asked them to not curse at all. I know that they are still young but I think it’s best that they understand the do’s and dont’s while they are children. The reason my husband and I set this up was because when I visited my friend’s house over the weekend, we couldn’t help but be shocked at the fact that their children cursed like sailor’s left and right. It was the same thing for the parent’s as well. Their little girl was pissed that she couldn’t get the recital valance she wanted and was huffily spouting all these curses out. I’m not even sure she understands most of the things she just said but it was still disturbing.
Although my children, particularly my son have cursed out loud, mostly out of anger; we do try to keep it in tow. My husband and I do curse, but never in front of the kids. And as much as possible we try not to do it in the first place. It takes a lot of commitment and patience but I think it is worth it in the end.
