When Your Child Has Down Syndrome

Being a parent means taking care of your child. It means knowing what it is that you need to do in times of trouble or little problems. It would also be the parent’s responsibility to provide and know what is best for their children. Parenting means doing more than just cooking meal, washing dishes, placing a child on top of their kiddie-ups carousel rocking horse and watching over them etc. It means so much more. Perhaps, the biggest thing that parents have to do would be to make decisions. Decisions are tough and this is especially true if it involves the welfare of a child.

For some women, undergoing prenatal testing is one of the biggest decisions they have to make. This is especially true if they have had a history of Down syndrome or other illnesses on their history. Some mothers feel that prenatal testing, although helpful, is just a little too much to bear. Maybe it’s the burden of knowing and having to make a decision based on the results afterward that scares them. On the other hand, there are women who don’t think twice about it. For them, it’s a great benefit to able to know ahead of time whether their child will be “normal.” People are entitled to their own opinion about whether this is right or wrong. These decisions, like everything else requires absolute careful consideration.
