Learning New Lingo
As time has passed, parenting has changed considerably. Parents have evolved and so have children. Although some children still delight in getting that construction pillow for a present, there are those that roll their eyes at the thought that they are only getting a pillow for a present. Now, as parents, we often would think that this is too, well, boring a gift as well. But the thing is that we have become a nation where our children always get the spotlight. It’s rare to see parents not fussing about in their children’s latest activity. All these new instances and common situations have contributed to emerging new lingo, most created by parents, to describe something that they often go through in their role as parents. For instance, there’s “Camcorditis”, this refers to the parent’s need to record or capture on film everything that their child does. This is quite true since almost every single time parents are on hand with recorder in tow for even some of the most mundane things that their children are doing.
On the other hand, there’s also a new term for instances when complete strangers give their two cents when your child or baby starts crying in public. It’s called a “Crytique.” Of course, these new terms and lingo are quite funny and meant to inject some humor into parenting. However, it is also a fact that parents and people do these things.
