Being A Volunteer Parent

One of the best things about motherhood and parenting is that you get a chance to influence and take care of a your child. Of course, other people would argue and think that this same “pro” can also be constituted as a “con.” Taking care of children is not an easy task, you have to attend to their every need and whims. The other day, my daughter was crying for her golden trail full sheet set. I had to explain to her that it was in the dryer and even though I know she understood it, she still continued to pout and stomp her feet through most of the day. This whole parenting thing can only become extra challenging once your child enters kindergarten. I know that it has become quite hectic for me.

Pretty much, the school has been asking me to volunteer some of my time. Now, although I would love to help out as much as I could, it’s not exactly that I have that big amount of spare time. However, it always seems that as soon as children start off in school, parents seem to be a part of it too. In other words, they’re going to have to “go” to school as well via “volunteering.” From reshelving the library shelf to taking care of some of the activities and meetings, it seems that parents have to go to school all over again. Although there is nothing wrong with helping out your child’s school, it’s sometimes crazy how they expect so much from you as if you don’t have other things to worry about.
