Becoming a Great Parent
We all like to think that we are the best parents that a child would ever need. However, the fact is that, we do make mistakes and we are far from perfect. Sometimes, even the seeming simple and mundane things that we do end up getting mixed up. For instance, we might get that gorgeous prince bench seat w/ storage for our child yet forget that they really don’t want it or even need it. We’ve just splurged on a huge amount thinking that we are showing our love to our children but end up spending money on unimportant things.
The fact is that many parents want to be able to provide for their child’s needs. No matter what it is that they need, all they want to do is give, give and give some more. This makes them think that since they can provide for what their children want, then they are automatically “good parents.” This is also true for me and my husband. The real deal is that parents often think that they can make be good parents as long as they can provide for their children’s basic needs as well as get them their favorite toys etc. These are nothing but materials. What most of our children need would be attention and time. They need to know that we do care about them and that, as parents, we will be there for them whey need us. Our role as parents extend far beyond providing for the material things that our children need.
