Answering the BIG Question about God

Children are often very curious and they literally ask anything and everything that comes to their mind as they try to figure out the world around them. As a parent, most children would look up to as having all the answers in the world. There’s nothing wrong with this but of course, most of the time, we often struggle with the same questions as our child especially when it comes to our own faith. I’m almost always ready and prepared for big questions about God and faith every time I tuck my daughter into her flower burst full sheet set. She’s the one that always asks all the questions that she can think of before finally going to bed at night.

To help her (and me) I’ve come up with topics or questions that we can go through and learn together. I can tell that my daughter is going to be an info sponge so I’ve tried giving and getting her books that she needs. But when she asked me one time whether God exists or not, I didn’t know what to say. Even I’m not sure what the answer is and it’s tough to simply say that the big man does exist just to appease a child. Of course, I took the best way out possible and that’s to completely come clean with what I think. Surprisingly, my child understood it in her own way. She told me that we can go ahead and learn or at least find out if God does exist together. It’s a good thing to know though that I’m not the only parent who has to deal with these questions. Oftentimes, it does stump me when my children ask me about these things, but as a parent, it’s my responsibility to explain things as best as I could.
