When Children Move Away
Oftentimes, parents feel a sense of relief and sadness whenever a child moves out of home. Although it’s often hard to accept the fact that your little child, the one that played with her rock-a-my-baby child’s chair when she was young is now preparing to move out of town or worse, out of the country! Parents often try not to get too fuzzy about this, thinking that their child would be glad to finally be able to move of their home. This might be true to a certain extent but then again, think about the fact your child will also have anxieties of his or her own when it comes to finally moving out.
Recently, I read one article about a child’s choice to go on volunteer work. Their child decided to volunteer and help out children in Nepal. What was supposed to be just a short stint turned into an elaborate and profound vocation to help establish schools and help people get better health care. The most inspiring thing is that the child is only 23. It’s an age when kids are still somewhat dependent on their parents. As a parent, it’s important to consider what your child wants to do with his or her life. Always keep an open mind and try not to hinder your child from doing the things that you know he or she is passionate about. It might be tough to think about the possible hardships that your child will definitely encounter there but have faith and know that as a full pledged adult, he or she will have a right to decide their own paths themselves.
