Would You Let Your Young Child Watch GLEE?

The other day, my daughter (who is only 6 years old) was bugging me to watch GLEE. I taped it for her since she loves the show a lot and likes the fact that the characters occasionally break into a song and dance routine. My daughter has been showing a lot of love for the musicals. She was bugging me about getting a musical bench one time, but her father said that she could have his brother’s firefighter bench seat w/ storage. Of course, this didn’t stop her from always trying to get me to buy her one or even just turning up the radio while at home. She likes her music, that’s for sure.

Ever since her cousin allowed her to watch GLEE, she’s been hooked. Although I generally don’t object to these shows, recently, I have been worried that it would send the wrong message to my daughter. The actors are over 20 year old even though they play high school students. They got a quite a big reaction recently for posing in a racy shot for a magazine. Now, there’s nothing wrong with this if you know for a fact that they are older in real life. However, children might not fully understand this and would only think to imitate what the actors are doing. Hence, it’s a big dilemma whether to let my young child watch this show or not. I sure hope that they would think of the possible consequences that would happen if they showcase things like these to children.
