Halloween Hangover
After a great night spent trick or treating around the neighborhood, it’s often hard for children to get up and go to school the next day. Of course, most of the time, children would rather cozy down in their flower burst twin sheet set than go to school the next day. Sometimes, they succeed in actually letting their parents head to the school nurse with them and sign them off for the day. However, does it ever bother you if your child is simply pretending through all of it? Adults often need a day off from work so they won’t go totally bonkers over all the paperwork, boss rants and pretty much any problems at the office. If adults need it, then children must need it as well, right?
There have been times when I’ve had my son tell me that he’s “not feeling well” and he wants to skip off school for the day. There was one time when I actually let him, only to find out later on (after spending time with him at home) that he really wasn’t sick at all. I guess, he just needed a break from the homework and teacher’s rantings. Of course, when is it okay for a parent to let their child play hooky? That’s something that most parents deal with on occasion. Personally, I don’t mind if my child gets a break from school once in awhile. And I mean like once every couple of months. As long as they are not completely sick, then I insist that they head for school. That’s how I was raised with my mother and father but then again, I know that children today seem to be more stressed out than before, so I’m willing to compromise.
