When Children Fail at School
Who is to blame when your child fails at school or gets a really bad report card? Is it the child, the parent or the school system? This is a tricky question to ask and the fact is, the fault does fall on all three at some point. It’s not just a parent who provides for their child’s every need like that all state full sheet set but fail to spend time with their children doing homework or simply talking to them about what’s been happening at school. Most children would need the motivation and the help of the parent to actually do well in school. Children need to know that they are doing schoolwork for a reason and it’s not just something they have to do.
On the other hand, there’s no denying the fact that our school systems aren’t perfect. They do need to make improvements as well so, I guess, they are accountable to a certain extent for children having failing marks. As for the child himself, of course, they have a responsibility as well. However, this sense of responsibility can vary depending on how old they are. Some children are born to have a better idea at what they need to do while others would need a lot of coaxing and guidance before they achieve the goal that they want. Majority of the responsibility though remains with the parents. It’s up to them to see to it that the school system is up to par with their child’s needs and it’s also up to them to encourage their child to study and learn.
