Children and Online Gaming
The other day, I got my daughter her Lady Bug Yard Twin Sheet Set. She was ecstatic when it arrived and immediately asked me if I could place her new sheets on her bed right away. Apart from that, I got her brothers a PSP so that they won’t be fighting over who gets to play with the Playstation. Although I normally don’t prohibit my children from playing video games, I do make sure to regulate their playing time. This is especially true of my little girl. She recently found the allure playing Yahoo! online games and now she’s completely hooked. It hasn’t gotten too much that she’s difficult to pull off from the computer screen but it is starting.
As parents, my husband and I agreed that any online game that our children plays should be checked out by us. Even though we put up parenting controls on our computer, you’ll never know what the internet might pull out for your child. Hence, we’re always vigilant in making sure that they play video games that are safe and offer nothing but clean fun. We’ve been talking about also tasking our eldest son into watching out for her younger siblings. Although we also monitor him ourselves, we think it would be nice to give him some responsibility over his brother and sister. Hopefully, he’ll agree to help us out. I think it’s a great way to teach older children/pre-teens about watching over their younger siblings.
