A Tardy Child
Encouraging your child to head out on time for school gets harder and harder everyday as they grow. Personally, my own son has been slowly but surely lagging behind when it comes to getting ready for school. It started out with him waking up just a bit late, then it evolved into him always dragging his feet behind him. Sometimes he flatly refuses to get to school or get ready. I would always need to go to his room and wake him up early. Oftentimes, I would need to wake him up and coax him out from his Pirate Treasure Twin Quilt with Pillow Sham. This has gone on for some time now and I can only see it getting worse instead of better.
My husband and I have tried almost everything to get him to wake up early. Now, we are in the process of giving him a reward for everytime he isn’t tardy or late for class. He prefers that we drive him to school instead of him catching the bus. Apparently, he doesn’t like it. He also adores it when he’s given special attention when he walks into school. His teachers say hi to him or we walk him right up to his classroom. I’m afraid that he might end up just not wanting to go to school in the end. I’d appreciate any of your thoughts on this.
