When Is It Appropriate to Breastfeed?
For most new mothers, breastfeeding is a crucial time in a child’s life. This also applies to the mother as well since she’s plagued with more and more physical pressures of breastfeeding her child. Now, there’s a difference between lying on your child’s Safari Jungle Twin Quilt with Pillow Sham in your home and breastfeeding your child to being in a public place and having to feed your baby. Some people will raise their eyebrow and think that this is completely inappropriate and indecent of you to be exposing yourself in public to nurse your child. Where do you draw the line?
As a mother who has breastfed her children, I’ve always used a handpump when in public to give my child their milk. On the few occasions where I had to breast feed my child in public, I always made sure to head to the bathroom or women’s lounge and nurse there. Although I think mothers do have certain amount of rights to breastfeed their child in certain places, I think it’s inappropriate to simply breastfeed wherever. As much as I would love to feed my child, I know for a fact that a lot of people will also be unhappy if I do things like that in certain public areas. I have to consider those two things and keep a balance at all times.
