Children with Down syndrome
Down syndrome or Trisomy 21 is a condition that there is a presence of an extra copy of gene in the 21st chromosome. So, basically it has to do something with the DNA strands. Maybe due to either of genetic inheritance or it just occurred spontaneously. There are two ways of how to diagnose it when you are pregnant. One is the older diagnostic test where you have to take sample from the amniotic fluid which we call it bag of water. The disadvantage here is it may cause fetal injury and worst miscarriage to the soon-to-be-mother. The second is taking blood samples, which was just recently published by the British Medical Journal. They say this is the safest, fast, and cheaper compared to the process called amniocentesis.
Have you noticed that children with Down syndrome are similar in terms of their physical appearance? Their condition is accompanied with impairment of cognitive ability and physical growth, particularly on their facial characteristics. Parents who have a child with Down syndrome are encouraged to be trained on how to give proper care for their child. These little children are gifts from Above and therefore should they be taken with special care. They are still children who need love, care and support. What do you think?
