Talking to Your Children About Natural Calamities

This month (March 2011) we have been shocked by the news we received from our TV’s of what happened to Japan and last few months with what happened to New Zealand.  Our children might have also heard the news and have seen some videos and pictures of hoe the sea have covered the land of Japan. Our children are also affected to the fact that they have seen how horrible the tragedy was. Talking to your child is a good way to help them ease their feelings of what they have seen lately in the news and TV. Be reminded that when talking to your child you have to be considerate of his/her age, mental state and emotional state. Different children learn from a different level. You as a parent already know how much your child can handle the situation. Remind them of the safety precautions which are valuable in times of distress and assure them of their safety and comfort.
